Theory of Change

Our approach to theory of change (ToC) is a theory-based approach to planning, implementing or evaluating change at an individual, organisational or community level. We use ToC with everything from small projects to multi-strand longterm programmes with many partners and many different complex outcomes. It can be used alongside a logic model and aims to show how the complex strands combine to bring about desired change. We usually work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop a ToC. ToC is often the only way to develop an evaluation when project are complex with outcomes that are difficult to measure or unlikely to be achieved in the timescale of the evaluation.
